President of Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios Shuhei Yoshida has issued a public apology for the unstable launch of DriveClub, while informing PlayStation Plus subscribers that the PlayStation Plus version of Driveclub has been postponed until further notice.

The apology was issued on the Driveclub Facebook page, and reads as follows.

“Unfortunately, the road to launch has been a little rocky,” said Yoshida. “We are truly sorry that so many of you have not been able to enjoy everything that we had hoped Driveclub would deliver. We have been listening to your feedback and realize that patience understandably is running out. Evo [Evolution Studios] is working around the clock to close the gap, and we have deployed additional engineering resources to help resolve the remaining issues as soon as possible”

Despite the apology it seems Driveclub’s rocky launch won’t be fixed any time soon, with no date given for a possible resolution to the unstable online connectivity.

When it came to the PlayStation Plus version of Driveclub, Yoshida stated that himself and Evolution Studios were not confident that Driveclub could handle such an influx of new users at this time. “Until we can ensure that everyone can enjoy the full social connected online experience, we will be postponing the release of the PS Plus Edition until further notice.”

Driveclub launched on PlayStation 4 on October 7 and ever since that time the online portion of Driveclub has been unstable. The PlayStation Plus version of Driveclub was originally announced to release alongside the full version and was to be included in October’s PlayStation Plus bounty of free titles.
