Microsoft has announced the previously revealed Xbox One S console will launch on August 2.

The 2TB Xbox One S launch edition will begin launching in select regions on August 2, with those who have pre-ordered the console receiving the console on the day of launch; the console is still available to pre-order on the Microsoft Store, but stock is limited.

As previously stated the Xbox One S console will not be launching globally on August 2, with the August release date taking place in the following regions: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, UK and United States. The Xbox One S will be releasing in additional markets later this year.

The Xbox One S console is 40 percent smaller than the original Xbox One, which includes a built-in power supply (yes please), 2TB storage, 4K Ultra HD support and re-positioned USB ports and pairing buttons for easy accessibility. The console will also come bundled with a new Xbox Wireless Controller, featuring a textured grip, improved Xbox Wireless signal and added Bluetooth support; the controller can also be purchased separately.

Are you planning on purchasing an Xbox One S this year? Do you already have one pre-ordered? Or like me did you buy an original console only a few months ago and now regret the purchase because this console sounds much better? Let us know in the comments below.
