Ever wondered why Uncharted: Golden Abyss is not included in the release of Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection? Well now your question has been answered.

Speaking at EGX 2015, Naughty Dog’s own Arne Meyer has revealed that originally Uncharted: Golden Abyss was considered to be included in the upcoming collection, but was ultimately left out. The reason Golden Abyss won’t be appearing in the collection is due to fact the Vita release a was too far from the original trilogy’s story arc.

“It was definitely under consideration, because we were trying to see how we could collect all of the Uncharted games,” Arne Meyer explained. “But when we went back and looked at what we were trying to do with the Nathan Drake Collection, we realised that those three games – the trilogy – actually provided a particular narrative arc that led into Uncharted 4. We wanted to keep that as a holistic collection for that reason, and Golden Abyss kind of lives a little bit outside of that.”

Are you disappointed the original Vita release is not included in Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection? Would you like to see Golden Abyss receive its own HD next generation release?

Until that happens though, look forward to experience all three console releases in Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection when it releases October 7 in Europe and Australia, and October 9 in North America.
