Watch_Dogs Coming To PlayStation 4

The PlayStation 4 was finally announced today at Sony’s PlayStation Meeting Event. Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot appeared at the event showcasing their next generation title, Watch_Dogs. We have previously seen Watch_Dogs’ at E3 2012, the gameplay demo took many by surprise, stole the show at the Ubisoft’s press conference, and possibly the entire E3 event.
Today we were given a brand new full gameplay demo, showcasing the games protagonist Aiden Pearce hunting down a criminal. Before meeting with his foe however, Pearce was shown walking through the world with many prompts appearing to hack people and objects surrounding him. With this ability he was able to hack the pin information from a surrounding bystander, to access their personal bank account at an ATM. Pearce was able to extract money from the woman’s bank account, without anyone detecting his intrusion.
When Pearce was close to a certain NPC a bar was shown showcasing the chances of the character being a victim of a crime. When the criminal was within vicinity a very similar bar was shown, showcasing the chances of him conducting a crime. From here the action takes place as Pearce interrupts a nasty situation between the criminal and the victim, the criminal makes a run for it and Pearce is in hot pursuit.
Pearce is able to hack an electrical box surrounding the criminal to knock him off his feet, from there police decide Pearce is the criminal they are looking for and make haste to capture him. Using his hacking abilities to raise bollards from the ground to stop a police car in his tracks, using slow motion to shoot out the tires of an incoming police car and then hacking a train to a complete stop before making his way onto the roof for an easy getaway. Pearce uses the environment to his advantage.
The abilities of hacking surrounding areas seems to create a great sense of choice when entering combat situations, could Pearce have used another tactic to stop the police officers? Or better yet, could he have escaped using another route?
Watch_Dogs continues to impress with beautiful lighting, outstanding graphical environments and the impressive hacking abilities of the games protagonist. Add the fact Ubisoft clarified the game will heavily involve your friends, Watch_Dogs could definitely be an outstanding title that takes gaming into the next generation.
