Ubisoft has announced Watch Dogs has sold-through more than 4 million copies during its first week of launch, making it the best-selling new IP at launch in the video games industry; according to NPD and GFK data.
Watch Dogs has also scored the accolade of being Ubisoft’s best-selling title during its first week, according to internal estimates. These numbers certainly close in on the 6.3 million sales across all platforms that CEO Yves Guillemot estimated last month.
“With such strong sales momentum and positive feedback from gamers, Watch Dogs has positioned itself as the must-have game of the moment” said Geoffroy Sardin, senior vice president of sales and marketing, Ubisoft. “We’re really proud of this achievement, and are confident that the Watch Dogs brand has a promising future.”
Similarly the free Watch Dogs companion app, ctOS Mobile, has been downloaded by over one million people. Watch Dogs is still scheduled to release for the Wii U during Spring 2014, which will no doubt raise these sales totals even further.
Analog Addiction recently reviewed Watch Dogs, praising the hacking abilities, living world of Chicago and protagonist, Aiden Pearce.
