Ubisoft CEO has confirmed there are three different Assassin’s Creed titles currently in development.

Yves Guillemot has revealed these details in a recent interview with Kotaku, these measures have been put in place to avoid franchise fatigue.

“We are making sure the teams who are creating the different iterations have enough time—two years, three years, so that they can take risk and they can change the concept enough so that it can be appealing and fresh,” Guillemot stated.

The Assassin’s Creed series has become an annualised franchise for Ubisoft, with Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag confirmed to release later this year. This leaves two unaccounted Assassin’s Creed titles in development, assuming Ubisoft will continue the annual tradition one of these titles would be the 2014 Assassin’s Creed.

The other could possibly be a Vita follow-up to Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation, which produced strong sales for Sony’s handheld. The title could also be the Assassin’s Creed 2015 title in early development, or even the previously rumoured Assassin’s Creed: Phoenix Rising.

Though these titles are all speculative, it seems Assassin’s Creed will continue to grace our gaming industry over the next few years.
