The long awaited release of The Last Guardian has been delayed until December.

The announcement was made by President of Sony Worldwide Studios Shuhei Yoshida on the PlayStation Blog, stating that the appearance of excessive technical bugs in the final stages of development has meant a delay was required.

“A delay is a difficult decision, particularly with this game, but we have encountered more bugs than anticipated while in the final stages of development,” said Yoshida. “To ensure that The Last Guardian delivers on the experience that the game’s creators have envisioned, we need to take the extra time to work on those issues.”

The Last Guardian will now launch on December 6 in the United States, December 7 across Europe and December 9 in the United Kingdom and Ireland.

“Fumito Ueda, gen DESIGN and JAPAN Studio have a wonderful vision for The Last Guardian’s touching, emotional journey of friendship and trust, and we want to deliver the most polished experience possible for our fans who have supported us for so long.”

After years of silence and countless delays The Last Guardian was planned to release on October 25 for PlayStation 4, but the new delay has pushed that release back once more.

What do you think of the delay? Are you happy more technical issues will be fixed before release? Or disappointed that the wait for The Last Guardian continues?
