EA Games Label president Frank Gibeau has stated DICE is “well in development” on the recently announced Star War: Battlefront.
During EA’s Fiscal Year 14 Q1 earnings call, the progress of the multiplayer-based Battlefront was discussed.
“We showed 22 seconds of where we’re going with it and the fan response was very positive,” stated Gibeau. “The DICE team is well into development on that product already, so we feel very bullish about our shooter rotation over the next several years.”
Fans of the series will also be glad to know Gibeau confirmed Battlefront “has a third-person component to it”. This suggests players will have the option to switch between first and third person perspectives, which has been an option in previous titles.
Star Wars: Battlefront development was revealed at EA’s E3 conference this year, with a short announcement trailer. No gameplay footage has been released at this time, nor has a release date been announced.
Star Wars: Battlefront will be coming to next generation hardware and will run on the Frostbite 3 Engine.
