Last week we confirmed the publishing deal between Paramount and Namco Bandai, that would bring Star Trek The Game to all major home consoles and PC. Today we get a behind-the-scenes look at how the idea of making this adventure co-operative, came about.
During the game players will be able to take control of Captain James T. Kirk (Chris Pine) and Mr. Spock (Zachary Quinto), who both mirror their on-screen counterparts from the upcoming film, Star Trek: Into the Darkness. The majority of gameplay will take place in the third-person shooter perspective, using cover to your advantage against your alien foes.
During the game you will also be able to explore the Enterprise and take it for a crash-course in alien destruction. Yes, you will be able to take control of the Enterprise, in space, shooting aliens. Which is cool and all, but we are mostly excited to sit in the famous Captain’s chair.
“We had to make a co-op game, there was no other game we could possibly make” said Brian Miller, Senior Vice President of Paramount Pictures. “Kirk is this brash cowboy character, where Spock in this exact opposite. ” Miller confirms that Spock will focus on stealth, methodically taking down enemies. While Kirk, is more of your shoot first, ask questions later type.
“You are going to feel like you are in the middle of a great, authentic, Star Trek adventure.” Star Trek The Game will follow the same characters from the J.J Abrams films, but will include its own unique narrative, separate from the films.
Star Trek The Game will release April 26 and Analog Addiction will be here to give you all the latest news before its release. Until then, live long and prosper (Had to do it).
