Yesterday Electronic Arts announced a free title update for their critically acclaimed SSX title from earlier this year; the free title update will also include 2 free game modes. For those of you still carving up the slops in this action packed snowboarding adventure you will be treated to ‘3-2-1-Go! Events‘ and ‘Freeride‘, both modes bringing new multiplayer and single player content to the game.

With the original game all multiplayer interactions were completed asynchronously, meaning no actual interaction on track between players ever took place, this is all about to change. ‘3-2-1-Go! Events‘ brings the ability to race with up to 5 players simultaneously in Trick it and Race it heats, the rules are simple…Cross the finish line first and you are crowned champion. The game will also keep track of peoples scores, which will also ultimately become a factor of who wins.
The second game mode being introduced is Freeride, similar to Red Dead Redemption’s Free Roam mode this will allow you to endlessly explore the massive mountains within each SSX stage. Allowing you to search for the biggest combo areas, get to know the track and become master of the mountain all without any distractions. This has been a highly requested feature and now fans will be able to enjoy it, all for free.
SSX was praised earlier this year by EA Label President Frank Gibeau stating that the game was “a very successful launch for us,”, a big reason he thinks SSX connected so well with fans is with the online additions and he believes “It’s done well and you’ll probably see more in the future,”.
