Sony Computer Entertainment International and Spotify have announced a new global strategic partnership, which will launch a PlayStation Music with Spotify as an exclusive partner.
PlayStation Music will be available on Sony Xperia smartphones and PlayStation consoles in Spring 2015, and will be available in 41 terrotories, including North and South America, Asia, Europe and many more.
PlayStation Network users will be able to link their Spotify accounts, then subscribe to Spotify’s Premium service using their PSN wallet. Spotify can also be used when gaming on your PlayStation 4, allowing players to listen to any track in the background of your gaming session.
Spotify users will be able to listen to their already existing playlists, including Spotify curated playlists.
Sony’s current Video Unlimited and Music Unlimited services will also be re-branded, with the aforementioned PlayStation Music and PlayStation Video replacing the current services.
Music Unlimited will close on March 29, with “nearly all” countries experiencing the PlayStation Music with Spotify launch. Current Music Unlimited users with active memberships will receive free access to the service until March 29.
