Sony is considering bringing PlayStation products to TV, smartphones, PC and more.

In an interview with Dengeki Online, Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios President Shuhei Yoshida spoke about Sony’s ultimate goal once Gaikai services are available on PlayStation 4.

“Speaking of the ultimate goal, we would like to deliver PlayStation games to all devices,” Yoshida said. “So we’re considering various things like PC, TVs, Blu-ray players, smartphones and tablets. We hope to continue to expand not only to Sony devices, but even to devices other than Sony’s. This is still being studied.”

Yoshida explained that Sony would love to deliver PlayStation games, to all devices.

“We previously spoke about PlayStation going from hardware to something closer to a service, regardless of the device — Of course PlayStation will still be the center, but I think we would like to expand to different things.”

PlayStation 4 owners in North America will benefit from Sony’s acquisition of Gaikai, when the ability to stream PlayStation 3 games onto the PlayStation 4 system is released next year.

Even though consoles may not be around forever, it is reassuring to see gaming will stay strong on a multitude of products. Until then, Sony is focused on the PlayStation 4 and the future of consoles.

The PlayStation 4 will launch in North America on November 15, while Europe and Australia will see the release of the system on November 29.
