Earlier today United Front Games, the developer behind Sleeping Dogs. Posted a job vacancy listing they were searching for a ‘network/multiplayer programmer’, the original posting with the mention of ‘next gen’ has been removed. However it is still available to be accessed via Google Cache.
The listing originally reads:
“We are looking for an experienced network programmer to work with our online team to develop the multiplayer features of our next gen console title,”
The post continues.
“The ideal candidate will also have been credited on several console titles, worked with multiplayer middleware packages, and have experience with state replication, interpolation, bandwidth optimization, and knowledge of common multiplayer features such as matchmaking, invites, game lobbies, leader boards, stats, etc,”
Now although many are speculating this could be Sleeping Dogs 2, the job listing description makes me think otherwise. United Front Games are also known for the ModNation series and the 2012 release LittleBigPlanet Karting. As much as I would love Sleeping Dogs 2, the fact that United Front are asking for someone who knows ‘matchmaking, invites, game lobbies, leader boards, stats’ makes me think Sleeping Dogs isn’t an option.
Could this possibly be a new ModNation console game for the ‘next-gen’ PlayStation? Maybe LittleBigPlanet Karting 2? Or possibly something new? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
