SimCity – Introduction Trailer

Maxis today released the introduction video to their latest game, SimCity. This video will greet the player every time they log into the game, showcasing the expansive aerial view of one of the many regions in the game. From there we are given views on how cities will look when they specialize in various power consumptions, such as dirty coal power, clean nuclear or wind power. Ending with the first look at the Space Center, one of the many Great Works players can work together to create.

Maxis Studio is located in Emeryville, which is where they have crafted SimCity with the brand new GlassBox Engine. Delivering unprecedented depth of simulation including to 100,000 individuals Sims in one city, plus every kilowatt of power through the region of cities in SimCity. Offering the most expansive city management ever in a SimCity title, allowing you to play 1-16 cities in the multi-city gameplay, all with their unique characteristics or carbon copies. It’s your choice.

SimCity will also be the first in the franchise to offer multiplayer functionality, decisions made in your city can affect surrounding cities, offering a unique dimension to gameplay. SimCity will be available March 7 in Australia, March 8 in New Zealand

Multi-player is also a first for the series, adding a new dimension to the game, as decisions impact both the city and the region, creating new ways to play by collaborating or competing to earn achievements. Finally, SimCity is a live service that simulates real-time updates and pushes them to players in the form of new challenges. Through this platform, Maxis is also able to provide a continuous stream of new gameplay features and content. Whether you play by yourself, with your friends or the rest of the world, SimCity introduces an infinite world of possibilities. What kind of mayor will you be?

SimCity is rated G and will be available on March 5 in North America, March 7th, 2013 in Australia and March 8th in New Zealand and Europe on PC. With an unspecified Mac release date to be announced.
