Sources close to Microsoft indicate Microsoft Points could be formally changed to real-world currency at E3.

The Verge reports these sources are close to Microsoft’s Xbox plans, with the theoretical conversion meaning Xbox will follow Windows 8 in removing the system.

This rumour has been previously reported, with the transition meaning Xbox users will use a similar system to that of PlayStation and Steam.

This would remove confusion on costs due to the Microsoft Points currency, hopefully removing the odd Points bundles currently available.

With the reveal of the next generation Xbox only 6 days away, the move would fall in-line with previous rumours that the new Xbox will feature Windows 8 features.
