Developer Psyonix is teasing the inclusion of a basketball-themed game mode for Rocket League.

The new tease was released on Twitter via the official Rocket League account, which reads “March Madness is just around the corner. Great time to tease the mode we’re working on next”.

Alongside this new tease is a single screenshot of a upcoming basketball-themed mode for Rocket League, which features a goal that vertically slopes up, in an imitation of a basketball hoop. Obviously with the unique new goal location, high-flying maneuvers and perfectly placed bounce shots would be required to secure victory.

This would not be the first time Psyonix has created their own version of a popular sport in Rocket League, with a variation of ice hockey released last year, which included a new puck-styled ball. At this time no release date or pricing structure has been announced, but seeing as Psyonix released the ice hockey variation to all Rocket League players for free, there is a high chance this new basketball-themed update could also be launched free of charge.

Rocket League recently launched on Xbox One to great success, with Psyonix stating Rocket League has since achieved over one million players enjoying the rocket powered sporting phenomenon. Rocket League was also nominated for a handful of Game of the Year awards on AA last year, and you can also check out AA’s full review of Rocket League here.
