Bethesda’s official website has undergone a site redesign that launched late last week, the new design looks much cleaner then its previous design and focuses on Bethesda’s upcoming titles. However one omission from the list is Prey 2, which was on the site before the redesign but now its absence has made many question this games chances of being released.
Where have you gone?
Bethesda has since been contacted by various media outlets and has responded about the missing title, “Since we had already announced it wasn’t coming out this year and we don’t have anything new to say on the game at this time, we simply didn’t think it’d be appropriate to include it on the new site launch,”a Bethesda spokesperson has said. “We chose instead to focus on the upcoming titles we are talking about.”
The weird thing about this statement is that the site clearly shows off The Elder Scrolls Online, which is scheduled to be released in 2013. Though no release window has been scheduled for Prey 2 one would think 2013 would be the year of release, yet it didn’t make the cut for The Elder Scrolls. Could this be because of popularity? Or is Prey 2 in more trouble than we thought?
Prey 2 was originally announced back in 2011, this title was actually announced for a 2012 release. Earlier this year however the game was delayed indefinitely, many rumours started to be released speaking of Prey 2 being in danger of being cancelled. However Bethesda shot down these rumours quickly stating that the game was simply delayed, “The delay is due to the fact that game development has not progressed satisfactorily this past year, and the game does not currently meet our quality standards,” Which was the official statement at the time of delay.
At E3 2011 we were shown a lengthy gameplay demo of the title, showcasing an assassination mission followed by a morality choice whether to turn the target in or torture them for money, information and clues. Prey 2 is centered around a bounty hunter for hire, it will also feature the first games protagonist Tommy in some way.
What do you think the future holds for Prey 2? Were you excited for this games release?
