Nintendo Australia has announced that Pokémon X and Pokémon Y broke all Nintendo game opening weekend sales in Australia and New Zealand.

Pokémon X and Pokémon Y launched October 12 and combined sold over 100,000 units, which smashed all previous records.

In comparison Pokémon Black and Pokémon White only sold a combined total of 80,000 units within the first week of sales. Interestingly, Pokémon X and Pokémon Y exceeded these sales within the first 24 hours.

Pokémon X and Pokémon Y’s demand in Australia and New Zealand has meant that many retailers have been forced out-of-stock. Nintendo Australia has ensured there will be additional stock arriving from this week, just in time for the holiday season.

Pokémon X and Pokémon Y is also available on the Nintendo eShop if consumers are unable to find a retail copy.
