Following the announcement that the PS Vita will integrate custom themes in the next firmware update, it has been revealed the PlayStation 4 will finally allow owners to utilise custom themes as well, when firmware 2.0 launches.

The announcement was made at Sony’s pre-TGS press conference in Japan, with new theme integration workings similar to the PlayStation XMB theme designs. Icons will be altered depending on your theme and dynamic background images will replace the standard blue design currently found on the PlayStation 4.

The new theme integration follows the previously detailed updates that are available in firmware 2.0. The update was first discussed at Gamescom, where it was revealed players will be able to upload videos directly to YouTube, alongside Share Play, which allows players to help other other players in their games using an internet connection.

No release date for firmware 2.0 has been announced at this time.
