Microsoft Game Studios executive Phil Spencer has called the Crackdown franchise “important”, expressing he would like to see the series return.
@Morgasm98 Crackdown is important to me. Given right team and time its a franchise I'd like to see return… — Phil Spencer (@XboxP3) June 16, 2013
The rumour of Crackdown appearing at the Microsoft E3 conference, started when an image similar to the orbs residing in Crackdown was spotted during the Xbox One reveal.
The last entry in the Crackdown series came in 2010, with Crackdown 2. The game was created by Ruffian Games, instead of the original developer Realtime Worlds and didn’t receive much praise critically or commercially.
