Konami announced yesterday that Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance will not be released on Xbox 360 in Japan, the cancellation of this title will not effect the Western release of the game.

See you later Japan

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is being developed by Platinum Games, this hack ‘n’ slash title will now not be released on the Xbox 360 in Japan. Reasons behind the cancellation of the game have not been released, though many speculate this is due to the lack of fanfare for the Xbox 360 in Japan. Xbox 360 has always found trouble with the Japanese market, with a small minority of adopters this announcement could possibly be related to Konami realizing that it was not cost effective to release the game in the region.

A statement has been given to the press however reassuring gamers that this will not effect the western release of the game. As it clearly states, “Metal Gear Rising Revengeance for Xbox 360 and PS3 will be released in the West as planned in February 2013.”

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance has had a troubled development cycle, with Kojima Productions handing the project over to Platinum Games to finish the title. The last we heard of Rising was the developer confirming there would be no PlayStation Vita version of the game. But it is officially being released on consoles February 19 in America and February 21 in Europe on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, except for Japan.
