Nnooo has announced Cubemen 2 will be released in the The America, Europe and Australia on September 4 for Wii U. Cubemen 2 will be available as a downloadable title on the Wii U’s Nintendo eShop for USD$7.99 / €7.99 / £6.99 / AUD$10.49.

Cubemen 2 will be the first indie title on a Nintendo platform to feature both cross-platform multiplayer and user generated content. Cubemen 2 is a fast-paced 3D strategy game in which players control an army of Cubemen, which they must use to battle their enemies in 7 modes, with 5 of them being available online. Players will be able to play online matches and share user-generated levels with players on PC, Linux, Mac and iOS devices.

“Cubemen 2 is not just a fantastic game, it’s breaking new ground for an indie game on a Nintendo console,” said Nic Watt, Creative Director at the Sydney-based Nnooo studio. “We already know Nintendo players love to create and share amazing artwork and creations in Miiverse. Now they can create levels, share them and battle with other players across multiple platforms! This is great, not only for Nintendo gamers, but for gaming in general.”

Developed by Melbourne studio, 3 Sprockets, Cubemen 2 allows each level to be played in single play mode and against AI with up to 6 online players (AI filling the spot of empty players). There are currently over 8,000 user-generated levels available play, with Wii U owners having access to these via the cross-platform availability.

“It’s been fantastic working with Nic and Bruce at Nnooo and Nintendo to get Cubemen 2 ported over to Wii U,” said Seon Rozenblum, Director at 3 Sprockets. “It’s such a great console to develop for and it’s a blast to see Cubemen 2 up and running on the TV. The mix of touch and Wii U GamePad controls is a perfect fit for the fast multiplayer gameplay. This has also been our first experience working with a publisher and the guys at Nnooo have been awesome to work with, allowing us to focus on the development side with total confidence that everything else was being taken care of for us.”

Cubemen 2 is also the first title that Nnooo has published, which has helped them earn a great deal of experience. “Publishing is a whole new area for us,” according to Bruce Thomson, Nnooo’s Business & Marketing Director. “We’ve gained a huge amount of experience in the console space since Nnooo started in 2006 and we want to use that experience to introduce other talented developers to consoles. We’re delighted to work with 3 Sprockets to bring Cubemen 2 to Wii U”.
