Giant Sparrow has released a new trailer for its upcoming game What Remains of Edith Finch, which is scheduled to release in 2016 on PlayStation 4.
Following the official announcement of What Remains of Edith Finch at Sony’s PSX event in December of last year, little information had been released regarding this mysterious title. Fortunately today Giant Sparrow Creative Director Ian Dallas took to the PlayStation Blog to reveal some new information, alongside a new trailer and screenshots.
Players will take control of Edith, as they explore the Finch family house. As players explore they will unlock new bedrooms which contain something that tells a story of that person’s life, such as a diary or a collection of photos. The Finch household is enormous and has been added onto by each generation of the family for the last 100 years, and while the house is meant to be fantastical, Giant Sparrow also wants it to feel familiar by filling the house with items people could purchase from their local Home Depot.
What Remains of Edith Finch is a collection of short stories, each focusing on the death of a different Finch family member. Each story is meant to “look and feel different”, in the way no two people within the same family are alike. These short story’s will focus on each individual, while the house itself will tell the story of the Finch family, told through the architecture of the house.
What Remains of Edith Finch has also been confirmed to appear at E3 this year, so expect more information on this upcoming release very soon.
