Activision and Robomodo have released new information regarding Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5‘s online component, a new gameplay trailer and revealed exclusive PlayStation content.

President of Robomodo, Josh Tsui took to the PlayStation Blog to reiterate and reveal new details regarding the online component of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5. Players will enter Freeskate levels that will also serve as lobbies for up to 20 players, from here players can hang out, skate between missions and have online matches. Sessions will be hosted on dedicated servers, with the ability to drop in and out of Freeskate sessions at any time.

Players can form party’s or challenge the entire lobby to competitive multiplayer modes. It’s also worth noting that once again Robomodo has clarified that the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 will not have any form of online multiplayer, meaning the Freeskate lobbies won’t be available if you play on last generation consoles.

It was also revealed PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 owners who purchase Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 will have access to three iconic Sony heads, in the form of Ratchet (Ratchet & Clank), Sweet Tooth (Twisted Metal), and Sackboy (LittleBigPlanet). These heads are described as “Characters heads for Create A Custom Skater”, meaning they won’t be versions of the entire character, simply the head. But hopefully the Create A Custom Skater mode will allow players to recreate these characters in their entirety.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 is scheduled to release for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on September 29, with the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions releasing at a later date.
