Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment have announced a mobile version of Mortal Kombat X will be coming to iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch and Android devices in April.

Developed by NetherRealm Studios, Mortal Kombat X for mobile will be a free-to-play fighting/card-battler hybrid, aiming to bring forward the “next evolution in mobile fighting games”. Players will experience a mixture of fighting, card collecting, and multiplayer team combat, featuring fatalities and veteran Mortal Kombat characters such as Scorpion, Sub-Zero and Raiden, as well as the “Next Generation of Kombatants”.

“NetherRealm Studios has created a Mortal Kombat X mobile experience that allows more players than ever before to play this over-the-top fighting game through their ever-present smartphones, tablets or other devices,” said Ed Boon, Creative Director, NetherRealm Studios.

Players who also purchase the console version of Mortal Kombat X will be able to link both versions using a WB Play account. This unique cross-connectivity will offer unique rewards for simply playing the mobile version.

The console version of Mortal Kombat X will release for for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC in North America and Europe on April 14, Australia April 15 and New Zealand on April 16. Two special edition versions of Mortal Kombat X were also recently revealed.
