After previous rumours, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has officially announced the Batman: Return to Arkham collection.
The newly announced collection bundles together both Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City, both of which have been remastered for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One using Unreal Engine 4. The remastered collection was not developed by Rocksteady, instead Virtuos has helped bring both Batman games to next generation hardware. Utilising Unreal Engine 4, both games will feature upgraded models, environments, lighting, effects and shaders.
Both Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City will feature every single piece of DLC that was ever released for both games.
Batman: Arkham Asylum was originally released in 2009, and still stands as one of the best superhero games ever created; while Batman: Arkham City was released in 2011 pushing the bar set by the original even higher. Notably absent from the collection Batman: Arkham Origins, which was a console developed prequel to the Arkham series that was developed by WB Montreal.
Batman: Return to Arkham will launch for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on July 27. The latest entry in the Arkham series – Batman: Arkham Knight – was released last year, and was AA’s Game of the Year runner-up for 2015.
